Penny Dreadful
My love of fiction in conjunction with my compulsion to make self-reflective imagery has resulted in a body of work that employs established symbolism, personal metaphor, and the contemporary language of "the thriller" to give the viewer a glimpse into the darker side of my mental landscape.
Aesthetics borrowed from Victorian novels, thick suspense borrowed from horror films, and frozen moments borrowed from television dramas come together in my images to create my own language of distress, insecurity, defiance, manipulation, defense, aggression, guilt, shame, secrecy, or passivity. I am the character haunting each scene. Each is ever present, without time, and only ever completely clear from the inside.
